Move Member to Another Family
This article provides steps to move a member to another family in Directory.
You can move a member to another family in Directory, with the option to add the member to an existing family or create a new family with the member. If you need to combine members or families into a single member or family, you can use the Merge Directory Members or Merge Families processes.
Note* The Head of Household cannot be moved to another family. If you need to move a Head of Household member, you must first Change the Head of Household. The Head of Household can also be merged with another member as part of the Merge Directory Members or Merge Families processes.
Complete the following steps to move a member to another family:
1. In Directory, search for and select the member to view the Member Detail page.
2. On the Member Detail card, click the ellipsis to view the drop-down menu.
3. In the drop-down menu, select Move to Another Family.
Move to Existing Family
1. Select Move to Existing Family.
2. Click the Continue button.
3. Search for and select the family to which you want to add the member.
Note* If the family you searched for cannot be found, you can move the member as new family. Click the Add Family button to add the member as a new family.
4. Select the appropriate member Type in the drop-down menu.
5. Click the Move Member button.
Move to a New Family
Moving the member to a new family creates the new family in Directory with the member as the Head of Household. All Giving and Form submission data will be migrated with the user into the new family.
1. Select Move to New Family.
2. Click the Continue button.
3. Enter the New Envelope Number (prepopulated if auto-increment is enabled) and Address for the member.
Note* If this member has their contributions tracked separately, you will see their data prepopulated in the Add New Family section.
Note* If you decide you would like to add the member to an existing family, click the Family Search button and complete the process for adding the member to an existing family.
4. Click the Move Member button.
